A dentist was sued for £4,000 in medical negligence compensation after he removed a Dunston man’s two bottom teeth by mistake, personal injury solicitor experts recently reported.

John Turnbull,  a fifty six year old Dunston native, had been informed that he had an infection by Dr David Stewart, his dentist, at the Glenholme Dental Practice.  However, in the wake of the tooth extraction, which left him in debilitating pain for several weeks that left him taking medication in order to manage the condition, found that the dental practice had actually shut down when he returned to receive additional treatment.

In a recent interview with the Sunday Sun newspaper, Mr Turnbull remarked how it was much too painful for him to eat without extreme discomfort, and that cleaning his teeth was all but completely impossible due to the pain. The fifty six year old, a fifteen-year patient of the dental practice, also said that he was extremely disappointed at how much the standard of care had deteriorated over the years to the point where hie teeth were removed completely without cause.

After consulting a team of personal injury lawyers, the injured man launched a personal injury compensation claim for medical negligence, leading to a settlement out of court that saw him walking away with £4,000 in compensation payment. The dentist that performed the needless tooth extraction, facing many more additional complaints made against him, has since retired after being struck from the Dental Register, it was recently reported.
